Abstract:
Until the 19th century tuberculosis was a “latent” disease, as its symptoms could not be clearly distinguished from other lung diseases. Until the discovery of the causative agent in 1882, even the contagiousness of the disease was uncertain, so for centuries, the treatment of TB was limited to alleviating the symptoms. A rich repository of herbs was available to relieve
the fever, shortness of breath, cough as well as the symptoms and the pain of hemoptysis. Later the complaints were tried to be treated with the help of medicines prepared by using herbal ingredients. Due to the nature of the disease, smoking and inhalation were often used methods too. In my article I would like to review some of the medicinal plants that have been prescribed to alleviate the symptoms of TB and have provided relief and perhaps cure for it
